You totally missed the point of the children in the song. Stephen Colbert is using his kids to manipulate his audience into feeling guilty for NOT buying the song. If you don’t buy the song, his children will starve. It is part of the humor of the song. Stephen Colbert is not singing against capitalism. He is making light of the over-commercialization of the Christmas holiday.
