Bob Seger Joins Digital Age, Live Albums On iTunes, Amazon

Bob Seger finally entered the digital age Tuesday (Sept. 13) when two of his live albums were made available for download on Amazon and iTunes.

“We’re finally doing it. We’re going digital,” exclaimed Seger.

Or as Brian McCollum wrote for the Detroit Free Press, “Just put those old records back on the shelf.”

The downloadable Seger albums are Live Bullet from 1976 and Nine Tonight from 1981. Fans should expect the digital versions to be sonically delicious. Both albums underwent months of intensive remastering.

Each digital album comes with a bonus track. Live Bullet comes with “I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s House,” a song by Albert King. Nine Tonight comes with “Brave Strangers,” an original song he recorded in 1980.

Seger may have finally entered the 21st century when it comes to marketing his material, but he’s still doing what helped him sell 50 million albums, and that’s performing live.

Earlier this year, Seger performed 27 concerts in 24 cities. It was his first tour in more than four years.

Seger will launch a second trek of the States beginning Nov. 2 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Bob Seger tickets will be sold to 13 shows in the Midwest, South, and Northeast.

One of the highlights of his upcoming outing is his Nov. 9 performance in Evansville, Indiana. Seger will open the city’s newest concert venue, the Ford Center.

Other big time stops on his route include Orlando, Baltimore, New York, and Philadelphia.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer is also expected to play some dates on the West Coast.

If you’re fortunate enough to live anywhere near a Bob Seger tour stop you should definitely see him perform. Seger has already gone on record as saying that this is his final national tour.

Then there’s that little detail of the 66-year-old rock legend being 66-years old.

“For the first time I’m sitting when I’m playing guitar. It hurts my back. I play two or three songs at the piano, but unusually, my back hurts worse at the piano,” Seger told Rolling Stone magazine. “It’s really strange because it never did before. It’s just age. I’m getting up there.”

Seger is scheduled to release a new album in 2012. It will be his first studio release since 2006’s Face the Promise.

According to Seger, his entire musical catalog (16 studio albums and a slew of unreleased tracks) will be made available for download “in dribs and drabs.”
