Kings of Leon Headline Coachella 2011

I can’t stand music festivals. They are always either too hot or too wet. They are uncomfortable as a cement chair, take tons of energy to endure, and are usually extremely filthy.

However, I really enjoy Kings of Leon.

Unfortunately, my detestation of music festivals outstrips my love for KOL. Therefore I won’t be attending this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival scheduled for April 15-17.

Maybe you will attend? And if you do, that’s great. Just bring be back a concert t-shirt.

Kings of Leon headlines the festival’s opening day. Arcade Fire has the honor for day two. Kanye West and The Strokes share the duties on the final day. A full list of Coachella acts (subject to change) is listed below.

As always, the 3-day event is held at Empire Polo Field in Indio, California (about 2 hours east of Los Angeles). Expect about 60 acts to perform a day (I’m already exhausted).

Lauryn Hill is one of the myriad of artists booked for the festival. It will be interesting to see if she shows up on time and how badly she ruins her own songs. Hill is currently in the midst of a quasi-comeback tour that’s been marred by her diva-like flakiness.

Coachella tickets for the three-day event go on sale Jan. 21. A three-day pass will set you back $269 while a VIP pass costs $699. Coachella does have a layaway plan (that’s not a joke) and is one of the hottest concert tickets of the year.

The Indio-based music event has been around for more than a decade. Last year’s fest drew about 75,000 attendees a day.
