Ricky Martin Announces He’s Gay, ‘Livin’ la Vida Fantabulous’

He bangs! He bangs!

Today, Puerto Rican superstar Ricky Martin revealed he is a homosexual. He made the announcement via a posting on his official Web site (ricklikesdick.com) and in conjecture with TMZ. His announcement was in both English and Spanish.

Martin’s sexuality has been a topic of conversation for tens of people for years.

“I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”

Martin credits his twin sons, both born in August of 2008, with inspiring him to come out of the closet. In other words there’s a sex tape about to be released.

“To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where [sic] born with.”

Ricky Martin hasn’t released an album of any kind since 2008, but he is planning on touring later this year.

Cynics will say he’s doing this to reignite his career; to get his name in papers so to speak.

Nonetheless it will be interesting to see how his fans respond.

On the one hand, the Latino world is generally not very accepting of gays.

On the other hand, he has just endeared himself to a large demographic that buys a lot of music and cut-off jeans.

As for his die-hard female fans, nothing really has changed. He still looks incredibly handsome and their sexual fantasies weren’t going to come true even when they “believed” he was straight. Besides, most women think, if given a chance, they can change him back.

In an eerie premonition, Martin summed up his situation during an interview with Rolling Stones magazine in 1999…

Well, this is show business. It’s a lot of fantasy. You can fantasize whatever you want to be. You can fantasize however you want to [laughs]. Go for it. Be free about it. I’m not too concerned with what people say about me. You can think whatever you want. I know what I am, my beliefs, what I like and don’t like. As I just said, I have the need someday to have a family. And that’s something I’m going to go for. The people I care about know me. I’m happy.

Land of Punt hopes he’s happy. No one should ever have to hide or be ashamed of who or what they are.
