Gone in Seven Seconds.

This past Valentine’s Day fans fell in love with Paul McCartney tickets as the Walrus set a new world record by selling 4,000 seats to one of his upcoming shows in just seven seconds.

The tickets are for McCartney’s April 19 concert at The New Joint venue inside the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Accordingly to recently released figures, McCartney tickets sold at a rate of nearly 600 seats a seconds. The show is sold out.

Sir Paul breaks the record set by British boy-band Take That. Last year, tickets for their tour sold at a rate of nearly 40 per second. So take that Take That.

With A Little Help From My Friends.

On April 4th, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will perform together for the first time since 2002, as the former Beatles headline the benefit concert, Charity Begins Within. Also appearing at the New York show will be Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Moby and Jim James.

The concert benefits the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace. This foundation promotes transcendental meditation in schools.

If you remember your Beatles’ history, the Fab Four studied transcendental meditation in 1968 under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Checked Into His Room…

Just last month, a Beatle themed hotel opened in Liverpool, England, the birthplace of the Fab Four.

The Hard Days Night Hotel has a 110-rooms and is lined with images and artwork of The Beatles. John Lennon’s white baby grand piano is located in the Lennon suite, while a suit of armor is found in the McCartney suite (get it, because Sir Paul is a Knight).

Of course to stay there you will need to sell all your valuable Beatle memorabilia, the suites are $1,300 a night while the rooms are $340 a night. For that amount of money, a Beatle should tuck you in bed.

Ram On!

A group of Los Angeles area musicians recently covered, track-for-track, McCartney’s second solo album Ram.

“Ram on LA” is the brainchild of Justin Gage, head of Autumn Tones Records. It features covers from 11 L.A. indie rockers, all of whom are so obscured they’re not even worth mentioning.

Fans can download the album for free from Gage’s website, Aquarium Drunkard, but patrons are asked to make a donation to McCartney’s favorite charity, No More Landmines.

McCartney fans beware.

Aaron Embry, an artist who worked on the album had this say, “McCartney is the father for all kinds of plagiarism, so it was a really great opportunity to indulge…”

Does that mean McCartney plagiarizes or people plagiarize him?

Embry admitted, “I did have trouble with a couple of the lyrics… so [I] switched them around a little bit. I hope Paul doesn’t mind.”

Paul probably doesn’t mind but his fans do. Sir Paul has sold a quadrillion albums, you’ve sold one? Leave his songs alone.

UPDATE

It’s just been announced that Sir Paul will play in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Halifax Commons on July 11th. While this may seem like an after thought, the former Beatle has never sold Paul McCartney Halifax tickets before.

His performance comes juts a few days before the international gathering of tall ships that sail into the port city.

“The Canadian audiences are great and the timing of the event, with the arrival of the Tall Ships, means that it will be an exciting event for us all,” McCartney said via his website. “We are looking forward to rocking in Halifax.”
