No Doubt To Give Away Music Catalog

No Doubt is not in the Land of Punt. They still have a long ways to go to make up for their single, “Don’t Speak.”

However, the band’s latest promotion is a big step in the right direction.

Bargains are never found in rock concerts and live performances, but No Doubt is trying to change all that. The band recently announced they will be giving away their full music catalog to any fan who buys a full-price ticket.

“Since the band is heading back to the road, we wanted to find a cool way to get people listening to our music and stoke them with a great deal at the same time. With this download it’s easy for fans to get psyched up to hear our music live once again and that rocks,” said No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont in a statement.

The catalog includes everything from their 1992 debut, “No Doubt,” to their 2003 greatest hits compilation, “The Singles.” Also in the free digital download package is their new single, a cover of the classic Adam & The Ants’ song, “Stand and Deliver.”

The single, the band’s first post-reunion recording, will make its debut on the May 11th episode of “Gossip Girl.” No Doubt will also appear in the episode.

In order to be eligible to download their entire catalog, fans must purchase one of the $42.50 No Doubt tickets. The downloadable catalog is not included in purchases of lower-tiered or lawn tickets.

The No Doubt Reunion Tour begins May 2nd in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After that the band will headline the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford. Their tour will take them to cities like Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas.

Accompany No Doubt on this tour will be Paramore, The Sounds, Janelle Monae, and Bedouin Soundclash. A new No Doubt album is schedule to drop in 2010.

The band had been on a hiatus since 2004. Gwen Stefani took a break from the band to release two albums and two kids.

Away from No Doubt, Gwen Stefani concerts tickets were in high demand. In 2005, she embarked on “The Harajuku Lovers Tour” which took her to 42 cities in North America.

In 2007, fans had another reason to buy more Gwen Stefani tickets, this time it was for her “The Sweet Escape Tour.” Stefani performed in 99 cities in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

While Stefani’s music is fun, her songs are about as deep as the instructions on a packet of ketchup. So it’s not a stretch to say No Doubt’s music is more cerebral.

No Doubt isn’t a great band but they should be commended for maturing past your typical one-dimensional ska-band and into a well-rounded, relevant rock band.

The more music they make, the more appealing they become. No doubt about it.
